Lucia de Vernai
Lucia de Vernai (formerly known as Lucia Bill) is a Warsaw, Poland native, having immigrated at age nine and settling in her now-home state of Arizona. Lucia’s career as an opinion columnist began at age 19 when she was published in The Arizona Republic. Brought up by a Polish mother and Honduran step-father, she uses her unique background and language skills to infuse her columns with an international perspective. Although she greatly enjoys writing about international politics, Lucia enjoys pushing the boundaries and exploring edgy social phenomena, writing pieces like “Small-Chested Women Unite and Be Proud,” which won her the acclaim of online news centers like Fark.com.
