My First Health Care Reform Reader

See President Barack. President Barack is very worried about Health Care. Poor President Barack!

Health Care is when you go to the Doctor. Sometimes when you go to the Doctor, you have to get a shot. Ouch! I do not like going to the Doctor. Do you?

President Barack thinks Health Care is making the Economy say “Ouch!” The Economy is when Daddy and Mommy go to their jobs and make money so that they can buy nice things for you.

You say that Daddy and Mommy do not have jobs and cannot buy nice things for you? Oh, no! Mommy’s and Daddy’s Boss says that he had to take their jobs away because Health Care costs too much. Poor Mommy! Poor Daddy!

See the Health Insurance Company. Health Care costs too much because of Health Insurance. Health Insurance is when Daddy’s or Mommy’s boss pays money tax-free to the Health Insurance Company, which pays for Daddy and Mommy to go the Doctor tax-free. Then Daddy and Mommy and you and Little Sister go to the Doctor as many times as you can. Even if you only have the sniffles, and the Doctor gives you that bad pink medicine anyway. Yuck! I do not like going to the Doctor, even if the Health Insurance Company is paying for it tax-free.

See the Lawyer. Health Care costs too much because of Lawyers and Lawsuits. A Lawsuit is when the Doctor gives you a shot or yucky pink medicine, and Mommy hears on Oprah that it has made you sick, and Mommy and Daddy hire the Lawyer to take the Doctor to court and make the Doctor pay Mommy and Daddy a lot of money. Poor Doctor! Rich Lawyer!

See the Government. The Government also buys Health Insurance called Medicare for Old People and Medicaid for Poor People. Then Old People and Poor People go to the Doctor as many times as they can, too.

See Congress. Congress says that Medicare and Medicaid cost too much because too many Old People and Poor People are going to the Doctor. So Congress will not let Medicare and Medicaid pay the Doctor as much as Daddy’s and Mommy’s Health Insurance Company does. Then the Doctor makes Mommy’s and Daddy’s Health Insurance Company pay even more.

This is called “Cost-Shifting.” Can you say “Cost-Shifting?” Oh, you are very smart.

See President Barack. President Barack wants to make Health Care cost less. Hooray, President Barack!

President Barack wants to make Health Care cost less by making more Bosses pay for Health Insurance for more Mommies and Daddies. He also wants to make Bosses pay for Health Insurance for people who are not Mommies and Daddies and who do not want Health Insurance. Then those Mommies and Daddies and their little boys and girls, and people who are not Mommies and Daddies, will go to the Doctor as many times as they can, too.

President Barack says that making more Bosses give Health Insurance to more Mommies and Daddies and people who are not Mommies and Daddies will make Health Care cost less because . . . well, because.

President Barack says he wants to make Health Care cost less by doing something about Lawsuits. But President Barack does not want to tell courts to stop making Doctors pay Mommies and Daddies and Lawyers a lot of money. President Barack says Health Care will cost less anyway because . . . well, because.

President Barack says he wants to make Health Care cost less by having Government give Health Insurance to a lot more people who are not Old People or Poor People.

See the Congressional Budget Office. President Barack and his Democratic friends in Congress like the Congressional Budget Office. The Congressional Budget Office always says that tax cuts will cost the Government a lot of money. Hooray, Congressional Budget Office!

Oh, no! Now the Congressional Budget Office says that President Barack will not make Health Care cost less by making Bosses and the Government pay for more Health Insurance for more people. The Congressional Budget Office says that President Barack’s Health Care Plan will cost the Government one trillion dollars. If Daddy and Mommy still had jobs and gave you and 99 of your friends a new Wii console every day, it would take them a million years to spend one trillion dollars.

See President Barack’s Democratic friends. They do not like the Congressional Budget Office any more. They also do not like President Barack’s Health Care Plan any more. Daddy and Mommy and a lot of other Daddies and Mommies who voted for President Barack do not like President Barack’s Health Care Plan any more, either.

See President Barack. President Barack is very, very worried about Health Care. Poor President Barack!
