Fearing the Facts, Democrats Bash

We are very familiar with the Democrats’ consistent strategy of bashing anything and anybody that has a hint of being conservative, traditional or logical in their thinking. Bush bashing, economy bashing, Republican bashing, war bashing, Cheney bashing, McCain bashing and the latest addition to the Democrats’ bashing songbook, Palin bashing.

That’s not to say that the Republicans do not do a fair amount of criticizing the Democrats, but at least the Republicans offer solutions that get lost or become confusing to the public when filtered through the liberal media’s lens.

The Obama campaign, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have also been consistent with their attempt to define John McCain and now Sarah Palin as an extension of the Bush Administration. The latest verse to the songbook is so ridiculous that it is laughable.

“Sarah Palin is just a female Dick Cheney,” I actually heard one of the many Democratic attack strategists say on the September 6 edition of the Neil Cavuto Show on the Fox News Channel. Even the serene Ben Stein had to laugh.

This bashing strategy by the Democrats might keep the Democratic Kool-Aid drinkers in line, but I doubt that it will attract many new voters because it offers no solutions to critical problems. And if the Republicans are smart enough to intensify their messaging with solutions, the bashing strategy could be a strategic vulnerability.

According to Politico.com, Nielsen reports that McCain got more viewers than Obama (38.9 million versus 38.4 million) during their acceptance speeches. Even though Obama had more flare and fanfare, McCain was more direct and decisive about what he planned to do as president.

Thomas Jefferson said, “The American people won’t make a mistake, if they are given all of the facts.”

Democrats can’t handle the facts, and liberals are afraid of the facts. So they bash and bash and bash.

Governor Sarah Palin’s record as a reformer who challenges anybody who is part of the problem, including her own political party, is a fact. Her accomplishments are facts. So the liberal elites, willing to pursue personal destruction at all costs, resort to bashing her daughter and her daughter’s fiancé.

People are waking up to the empty experience claims of Sen. Obama. Television audiences listening to McCain versus Obama is indicative of that fact.

People are waking up to the fact that all bashing and no solutions is an empty political promise. Just as the Democrats’ promise of “a new direction” in 2006 has resulted in little more than a do-nothing Congress.

It is clear that the Democrats do not want people to have all of the facts. And when it comes to economics and taxes, the Democrats don’t even want people to know the truth (See my column titled The Economic Truth dated September 1, 2008).

More people are seeing through the bashing and waking up to the truth about solutions to our nation’s problems. Let’s hope that enough people will wake up before it’s too late – Election Day.

If not, we may all be bashing our heads against the proverbial wall.
