Question Obama's Patriotism? Yes I Can, Yes I Can!

As we celebrate Independence Day, perhaps it's fitting that Sen. Barack Obama brought up the subject of patriotism. It is, after all, the last refuge of a scoundrel. And it is precisely for that purpose Obama raised it.

You see, he doesn't want it discussed, as for him it's a losing issue – from the racist pastor who screamed “God Damn America” from the pulpit to the wife who was ashamed of America until part of it nominated her husband for president. (The egomania inherent in which is equally disturbing.)

Obama has much to explain and no good answers have been forthcoming. So why shouldn't he try to get the liability neutralized? Hence his speech last Monday, which in typical Obama fashion used a lot of good-sounding words with little substance as a way to cover up and lure the listener away from the real issue. The key quote is as follows:

“I will never question the patriotism of others in this campaign. And I will not stand idly by when I hear others question mine.”

So, to get his very questionable background off the radar screen and attempt to silence anyone who'd bring it up, he makes an empty offer in return. Anybody with a brain and a clean record should have no problem seeing through this and calling his bluff. And I, for one, have seen through it, and do call his bluff.

It begs a rather critical question: Just what does Obama have to hide? Why is he so desperate to not have this subject delved into? Simple logic suggests that there must be something pretty bad for him to take this kind of step and try to shut down debate. Otherwise he'd confidently welcome this inquiry, and dispose of it in short order. That he appears to be rather afraid of it, and given how bad what we already know of him on this matter is, it can't be very good. In fact, it tends to make one presume the worst.

And what does it say that someone running for the most powerful office in the world thinks he shouldn't have to truthfully reveal everything asked about him by the people whose votes he seeks? There is a condescending arrogance about this that is very bothersome, and I daresay not befitting a “messiah.” The list of things we're not allowed to talk about with Obama grows by the day:

His race, his pastor, his wife, his church, his inexperience, his lack of accomplishment, his personal associations and now his patriotism. And that's just for starters. Pretty thin-skinned and very defensive for someone who's presumed to have supernatural qualities, don't you think?

Could it be that this list of things we aren't allowed to talk about, as well as the near cult-like blind worship of him by some, are two sides of the same coin? That both serve to hide the truth and keep people from thinking, be they opponents or supporters?

And that the truth is simply that Barack Obama is a typical liberal machine-manufactured politician who feels compelled to hide just how liberal and inexperienced he really is? That, far from representing “change,” Obama is a completely by-the-book hard leftist who'll recycle every tired, failed liberal idea but on an even larger scale?

All this, combined with the, ahem, audacity shown in thinking they're above any questioning, could be a potentially lethal brew. It may be one thing to be inexperienced. It's another entirely to be arrogant about it. And when running for the most important job on planet Earth, it's absolutely vital to question the apparent temperament that each candidate would bring to it.

Obama is essentially paraphrasing The Wizard of Oz: “Ignore that man behind the curtain of flowery language! The great and powerful Obamessiah has spoken!”  And like the Wiz, he's afraid we'll also find out that all the oratory and such serves simply to conceal a total fraud.

Question your patriotism, Senator Obama? Yes I Can, Yes I Can!
