Children’s Deaths Reveal the Lethality of Liberalism
Four children were
murdered here in my home state of Minnesota on Tuesday. The school bus
they were riding home in was broadsided by a van driven by an illegal
alien, Alainiss Nuñez Morales. Or so we call her now. Even that name is
an alias. Just exactly who this person is and what she was doing here
when she wasn't supposed to be remains unknown as of this writing.
And it would probably
stay that way a good long time if the liberals running local government
and the news media had their way about it. You see, Miss Morales (or
whoever the hell she really is) was convicted of driving without a
license two years ago. But she was neither imprisoned nor deported at
that time, thus leaving her free to needlessly slaughter three boys and
a girl.
Nobody checked her
immigration status then – neither the law enforcement who arrested her
nor the local or state government with jurisdiction. I don't know that I
can blame the officers themselves. I imagine they probably know they're
not going to be backed up by their superiors and might even get in
trouble with them for doing so. For you see, a good many cities in
Minnesota have become “sanctuary cities” – places proudly advertising
their blatant treasonous refusal to enforce immigration laws.
Yes, that's right, I
said treasonous. No mayor or state official has any prerogative to pick
and choose what laws on the books they will and will not enforce. When
they arrogantly and unconstitutionally do this anyway, in violation of
their oaths of office, they have for all intents and purposes seceded
from the union and declared their city or county a personal fiefdom. And
they themselves are, in principle, the dictator thereof. When you top
all this off with the veritable pride most take in defying the law
they've sworn to uphold, I don't think traitor is by any means an
inaccurate description or too strong a label.
Naturally, these places
become magnets for illegal aliens, as they know their status is much
less likely to be discovered. Add to that the ridiculously generous
welfare handouts most of these same ultra-liberal dictatorial
politicians are all too happy to tax away from you and hand to them, and
it should be no surprise to find a great many Alainiss Moraleses here.
By the same token, the
biased news media is never interested in investigating the backgrounds
of incidents like these, or what gave rise to them. I suspect it's
because some of their liberal conventional wisdom would be proven to be
flat-out wrong and, sadly, lethal to innocent bystanders. That's why
they'll likely not even look into what Morales was doing here, how she
got here illegally and why the previous arrest didn't result in her
incarceration, deportation or both.
We had another horrible
incident in Minneapolis a week prior, in which a little four-year-old
boy was brutally beaten to death by his father's cousin, who ordered her
children to hold him down so she could bludgeon him into oblivion while
they watched this horror. The boy was staying with this woman, who was
previously investigated for abusing her own four children and has
multiple drug convictions on her record, because his father who came up
from Chicago was arrested himself on an outstanding felony warrant. Just
where his mother was through all this is unclear.
But did the aftermath
of this evil attack cause any curiosity in the local media? Any desire
to know where this poor child's mother was, what the father's business
was in coming to a place where he knew he could be arrested, how he
wound up in the care of a woman who apparently had no business tending
to children, and what exactly gave rise to their drug- and crime-riddled
lifestyle?
Sounds like a good
topic for a crack investigative reporter to dig into. But it wasn't. The
story dropped off the radar screen a few days later and it hasn't
reappeared – not a sound, not a peep. Could it be, like the bus crash,
that finding out the details of the lives of these criminals will be
every bit as lethal to liberal shibboleths as the perpetrators were to
their innocent child victims?
Fact is, these entirely
avoidable killings are the direct consequence of liberal policies. From
being soft on crime, to handing out welfare that destroys the nuclear
family and acts as a lure for the criminal element, to not sealing the
border and refusing to enforce immigration laws, liberals have set the
stage for the carnage we've witnessed over the last couple weeks. They
have enabled this all along, and without their having done so, it's
highly unlikely that either awful crime would ever have happened.
Neither of these
incidents was a “tragedy,” with the incidental nature such passive
language connotes. These were the entirely predictable and lethal
results of stupid, immoral and wrong actions deliberately taken by those
holding the levers of power. We can either deal with this truth and
reverse course before things get even more out of hand, or we can bury
out heads in the sand and let political correctness run amok cause even
more avoidable bloodshed.
We owe nothing less to
these precious little ones taken far too soon – Demond Reed, Jesse
Javens, Hunter Javens, Emilee Olson and Reed Stevens – than to ensure
that they did not get killed in vain.
